Deep Soil Sampling While Preserving Sample Structure for Geological Research
In geological surveys and environmental research, soil sample quality directly affects the reliability of analyses of soil composition, moisture content, and the characteristics of individual soil layers. The Royal Eijkelkamp Van der Horst Core Sampler is designed to collect relatively undisturbed soil samples at depths of up to 7 m, making it suitable for sampling both above and below the groundwater table. Its sampling tube, combined with a one-way valve, allows air or water to escape as the sample enters the tube, reducing resistance during sampling. The equipment also includes a hydraulic sample extruder, making it easier to remove samples from the tube without applying direct force to the soil core. This solution supports geotechnical investigations, soil compressibility assessments, shear strength determination, and soil composition analysis for construction projects, hydrogeological research, and environmental assessments.
Measuring Groundwater Levels with a Conductivity Probe and Graduated Measuring Tape
Monitoring groundwater level fluctuations is an important part of hydrogeological surveys, water resource assessments, and the evaluation of impacts caused by groundwater extraction. The Eijkelkamp 11.03.42.01 water level meter uses a conductivity probe combined with a measuring tape graduated in centimeters to determine the water level depth in boreholes, monitoring wells, and storage tanks. When the probe comes into contact with an electrically conductive liquid, the instrument produces audible and visual signals to indicate the water level, allowing operators to read the measurement directly from the tape. The stainless steel probe has a diameter of 15 mm, making it suitable for applications with limited access. Powered by AA batteries, the instrument supports manual measurements and is convenient for routine surveys or groundwater level checks during pumping tests. It is well suited for monitoring groundwater fluctuations at groundwater extraction facilities, hydrogeological research sites, and environmental monitoring stations.
Removing Invasive Plant Roots with a Specialized Drilling Tool
In the management of agricultural land, riverbanks, and ecological areas, controlling invasive plants requires removing their roots to reduce the risk of regrowth. The Eijkelkamp 01.18 Hogweed Sampling Auger is designed to extract the roots of giant hogweed from the soil, supporting efforts to control this invasive plant species. The tool has a working length of 1 m and a drilling diameter of 9 cm. It also allows disturbed soil samples to be collected during operation. Its specialized design provides access to underground roots, reducing the likelihood of regrowth after the above-ground parts of the plant have been cut or cleared. The equipment is suitable for invasive plant management in rural areas, agricultural land, and along waterways. Since giant hogweed sap can cause skin and eye injuries, operators should wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment when handling the plant.
